In addition to physical development, toddlers also experience tremendous emotional and social growth. Parents should be aware that their preschoolers have developed a greater capacity to relate with others. Preschoolers are actively involved in new relationships instead of the parallel play they were accustomed to before (Lally & Mangione, 2017). They also become more independent, desiring to make choices for themselves, especially during play or dressing up. They have more significant consideration for others expressed through sharing and taking turns; this consideration nurtures their emotional regulation ability. However, parents should expect a risk of persistent tantrums, which they can curb by showing their toddler that tantrums are not an effective means to get what they want.
