Answer preview
Both obesity and hypertension are prevalent health issues among adults across the world. According to Smith and Smith (2016), worldwide statistics have shown that nearly 2.1 billion people suffer from obesity. In the United States, 85% of all adults will be obese in 2030. On the other hand, statistics have shown that 40% of total adults suffer from hypertension all over the world (Rêgo, Cabral, Costa, & Fontes, 2019). To reduce the risk of obesity and hypertension, I would incorporate the following health promotion measures to help people adopt physical exercises and activities. First, I would practice patient-centered care to understand the things that might be causing obesity and hypertension at the individual level. Hence, using patient-centered care, it is possible to advise the most appropriate type of physical exercise based on a patient’s preferences. Secondly, I would advocate for physical exercises to every patient under my care, which would help the patient avoid obesity and hypertension in the future.
