In the United States, the Equal Pay Act mandates employers to offer equal payments to both male and female workers for equal jobs (Sha, 2019). According to the law, equal payment not only comprises of equal salaries but also bonuses, training, overtime benefits, and reimbursements. Despite this legal provision, gender pay disparity has shown persistence. The major reason is gender discrimination. Holman, Stuart-Fox & Hauser (2018) reports that women have engaged in higher education and technical fields such as STEM but have been discriminated into getting first and sometimes subsequent jobs that are well paying. This discourages their efforts to pursue higher levels hence the gap persistence. Employing ethics at the workplace will create a perception of professional potential to deliver quality work regardless of their gender and thus will wear out discrimination and champion equality.
