Answer preview

From the official website of Surprise city, Arizona, benchmarks are being met. For example, during the current Covid-19 pandemic, benchmarks are met by ensuring specific businesses implement mitigation strategies to curb the virus’s spread as they return to their operations. According to the Arizona Department of Health Services (2020), three benchmarks are applied in the city, including minimum, moderate, and substantial. At the minimum level, each specific type of business is required to have less than ten cases in one hundred thousand persons, positivity percent, and Covid like illness of less than 5% each. For this benchmark, reopening strategies are met after two weeks with a 12-day reporting rag period to reduce transmission levels. For example, all indoor gym and fitness centers must hold 50% of their capacity until the positivity rate is less than 3% (Arizona Department of Health Services, 2020). This minimum benchmark level has been met in this specific type of business, and Arizona has experienced decreased transmission of the virus.
