Negotiations are essential in solving labor disputes, for they enable the involved parties to make firm decisions regarding employees’ rights. In other instances, these parties can go into a bargaining breakdown when they do not reach an agreement. An arbitrator comes in to solve the conflict, which helps organizations to avoid strikes or walkouts. The article “Australian Unions during the Formative Years of Federal Arbitration:’ Cogs in a bureaucratic machine’? by Ester Stern (2019) shows that globalization and rationalization spurred the need for arbitration. The focus will be evaluating key points in Stern’s article, a summary, and a personal evaluation of its relevance in my occupation.(726words)
