Unlike the Vietnamese, Turks are more open to advanced medical practices and treatment protocols (Menawi et al., 2017). Education is crucial within Turkish culture and might be the reason Turks trust modern medicine. However, not all Turks trust modern medical practices, with some still clinging on to traditional remedies as a solution to the ailments plaguing them. Relationships within this culture are hierarchical, with the subordinates expected to respect and always consult their superiors. The eldest man in the family, which in most cases, is the father, has the final say with respect to the medical decisions members of his family make (Menawi et al., 2017). Therefore, health care professionals should engage more with them rather than the patient because they are the ultimate decision-makers. Turks are prone to high-risk behaviors because most believe that health controls do not contribute substantially to them leading health lifestyles (Beser et al., 2007). Men are the most affected because of their belief that they are strong and less likely to get sick. Turkish religious beliefs are intertwined with their health care beliefs. Turks wear certain religious ornaments and say special prayers when seeking help with mental and fertility problems.
