The Coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on the mental health of people. Covid-19 has inflicted havoc on communities’ social fabric, affecting leisure activities, which have been curtailed severely in most countries. Restaurants, retail, and other business that provided ways for people to socialize have come to a grinding halt. Our social structures have been disrupted. In several countries, contact with peers has been prohibited or severely limited (Fegert et al., 3). This has led to the rise in depression and anxiety amongst people in the society. Suicidal behavior and suicide levels have also increased. Our local community has created a suicide prevention hotline as a way to try and avoid cases of suicide. The psychologists in the community are offering services online and over the phone as a way to control and help potential victims. We have also used video conferencing apps to maintain contact with our peers as well as ensure that our social relationships do not suffer as a result of the social isolation policies.
