The enlightenment period, also recognized as the age of reason, dominated Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries with intellectual and philosophical ideologies (Domínguez, 2017). Philosophers like John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, Jean Jacques Rousseau, and scientist Isaac Newton, promoted their advanced ideas freely through the press and everyday interactions. They believed that faith and old forms of government blinded people. The Enlightenment thinkers’ higher understanding of diverse societal issues influenced changes in politics, economic activities, social elements, and culture. The objective will be establishing forces that contributed to the Enlightenment in Europe, the main ideas that influential thinkers had that challenged the traditions and groups that were against the ideas.
