If neither of the two essential conditions is met, the health provider cannot authorize the treatment option. As a doctor knowingly provides a treatment that is likely to violate the principle of non-maleficence and the predicted harm actually occurs, the provider might face legal charges (Ursin, 2019). In my case, we informed the patient about the two conditions before making his decision. We also informed the concerned parties, including the head of the department, the general manager, and all his family members, to get a signature approval before proceeding with the procedure. Luckily the patient got better with time, and he was released from the hospital.
