According to Panadero, Jonsson, & Strijbos (2016), scaffolding entails the use of different techniques to improve students’ comprehension and greater independence while learning.  Panadero, Jonsson, & Strijbos, (2016) highlight that teachers need to modify texts or assignment and make accommodation such as selecting accessible texts or alternative project.  Some of the strategies that can be used in scaffolding comprehension are as follows.  First, a teacher can pre-teach vocabulary.  In this strategy, a teacher improves the learner’s vocabulary comprehension.  Secondly, teachers can use a pause, ask questions, and review strategy.  In this strategy, a teacher checks student understanding while they are reading a text.  He or she should share a new idea from the reading or discussion.
