Some changes in nursing have been caused by the changes in healthcare brought about by the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which was passed in 2010. Changes in preventive care and health screenings made nurses change how they interacted with their patients. Shifts to in-home care-built opportunities for nurses to provide their patients with proper self-care education and training. Also, the rise in the delivery of prescription medicines provides nurses with opportunities to train patients on how to administer their own treatment (Baker et al., 2021). The responsibilities of nurses have also changed with the growth of telemedicine, where they can offer care and consults to patients without them necessarily coming to the health care facility physically. Some nurses are expanding their field of study by taking up new careers, such as hyperbaric nurses and even flight nurses in emergency aircraft.
