Responses to short answer questions provide the admission committee with information regarding your personal or professional goals and how they align with the MA in special education (Applied Behavior Analysis) program. The admission committee pays particular attention to the quality of writing and ideas expressed in these responses as well as evaluating the relevance of goals to the aims of the program.
Please respond to three of the four questions below. Responses should be limited to 150-200 words per question.
- Describe one of more personal or professional goals that motivated you to apply for this degree. How will completion of the MA in special education (applied behavior analysis) program help you fulfill these goals?
- Describe a quality that you believe is critical in working with an individual with special needs and include at least one situation where you have demonstrated this quality.

Pursuing a graduate program this time is strategic because my chosen profession requires a constant discovery of techniques to improve the special needs field. Worth noting, this is an era with significant changes influenced by technological advances and widened perceptions about health, learning, and lifestyle, among others. Therefore, I have a knowledge thirst of keeping with the trend to help me better comprehend human behavior in the special needs field. I envision applying evidence-based practices based on the applied behavior analysis when handling children, adults, and communities. This will help me enhance people’s proper functioning, performance and reduce problematic behaviors through personalized intervention plans. Hence, to ensure that I will be successful in this program, my first step is to keep track of my studies by demonstrating a commitment to completing the assigned tasks and projects.
