Nurse Practitioner Ethical Dilemma

After reviewing The Invisible Patients documentary, define/describe in detail an ethical dilemma that was experienced by the NP. Please note, there are several ethical issues, so there should be diversity in the responses. Explain how you would have handled the situation.

Remember there is no right or wrong answer for this ethical question. Suggested reference Look at the Nuremburg Code (US Department of Health & Human Services, 2005; Washington, 2012) as it was the major start of ethics in research and that can carry over to nursing practice.

Answer  preview

Nursing is a complex field, and the nurses get to interact with different patients, and in certain circumstances, ethical dilemmas might arise in the process. In most cases, the personal beliefs of the nurses may influence how they address such difficulties (Hamric, Hanson, Tracy & O’Grady, 2019). Given these circumstances, I would address the matter in a way that would minimize the effect it will have on my patient.

In addressing this ethical dilemma, I would engage Ron on the same and suggest that he acquires the services of an independent financial manager or an institution that can manage his accounts (Rainer, Schneider & Lorenz, 2018). In the present case, the manager was close to the family, which may escalate the family dispute that might affect his health.
