In The Matrix by the Wachowski sisters we are introduced to a dark future where humanity is imprisoned physically and perceptually by a form of manipulative Artificial Intelligence.
And in our daily lives we also experience a limiting of our social perspective regarding Covid-19.
If Neo could rescue humanity from Plato’s cave, what would that rescue look like today in a world where people are constantly battling the influence of misinformation while trying to stay safe?
Are there any modern figures in reality that have acted as a Neo/Morpheus or a Plato, in the current age of coronavirus, liberating humanity from their incorrect thinking? If we listen to these modern truth-tellers, how will our lives be made better?

Answer previewThe COVID-19 pandemic presents significant concerns on the need to rescue people from the social and economic false realities created by the COVID-19 guideline. Neo/ Morpheus or Plato would need to rescue people from the false identity created by the government and experts concerning the pandemic. While to stay safe, people need to minimize movement and maintain social distance, the efficacy and sustainability of these measures are not tenable in the long run. Plato explains that the understanding of reality could only be a reflection of something greater. ‘‘Matrix’’ promotes the need to rescue individuals from the false reality created and promoted in the systems. In a democratic society, the government cannot take the absolute authority of individuals’ health. People must be willing to engage in health-seeking behaviors to remain safe while questioning the information to enhance positive results. Unless the proposed intervention measures for COVID-19 respond to the individual needs and deficiencies and explore the different social contexts, their application is questionable. The policies and the laws on COVID-19 are not activated responsively and sensitively. This is similar to the transgender experiences characterized in the Matrix where human sexuality knowledge is limited to perspectives in the systems.[1020 Words]
