I also learned that the wall would not only be destructive to humans but also to animals and nature. The adventurers pass through a region with diverse animals, such as bears, sheep, owls, and ocelots. Building a wall would cause the displacement of all these animals. The Texas wildlife biologists say that the black bears had previously been wiped out by hunters but later returned from Mexico (Masters, 2019). The ranchers are also afraid of the acres of ranching farms likely to be lost.
Finally, the movie enabled me to understand what challenges immigrants encounter in the country. DeAndrade explains how he came from Brazil with his mother and lived as an immigrant. Alvarado also describes how he was brought up as a child of an illegal immigrant and suffered class discrimination. “In the outdoors, on the Rio Grande, that’s somewhere that status doesn’t matter,” says Alvarado.
