The National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) Competencies for Healthcare Executives includes three domains. Review the NCHL model and scan the competencies. Consider those that are essential for transformational leadership relative to the focus of our course. The second domain is Transformation, which has change leadership as a critical competency. According to the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (n.d), change leadership energizes stakeholders, and positively influences the change process. Transformational leaders need to cultivate change leadership, which will help them change processes, systems, activities, and strategies to improve the work environment and ensure high patient satisfaction. As a transformational leader, I would enhance my change leadership competency by sharpening my communication skills. Communication during a change process is crucial, and it answers the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of the change process. Through proper communication, I would articulate the reasons behind the importance of offering quality patient care and guide staff into a higher level of excellence that aligns with the current regulations.
