Culture shapes the behavior and lifestyle of individuals and hence the customer consumption. Taipei is considered as one of the most vibrant cities in Asia with critical cultural drivers. Taipei people communicate in Mandarin Chinese as the official language in school, work, and official spheres (Culture in Taipei, Taiwan, 2017, November 2). Religion is an important aspect of the culture, and it is believed there are as many temples as there are restaurants. Education is more important in Taipei, and unlike in western culture, people start a conversation on the schools they attended, their grades, and education. This paper explains the cultural consideration in opening a business, hiring staff, and managing Taipei operations. Mandarin Chinese language, the value of education, and emphasis on festivals and holidays are key cultural factors in Taipei that can influence a subsidiary’s opening, hiring staff, and operations management.(647 words)
