. Evidence-based nursing practices are guided by research that is based on theories. On the contrary, a theory is a body of knowledge that generates hypotheses that can be tested through research. The research findings are then used as evidence used in nursing practices. That said, research provides results that can make a theory be revised or rejected (Janelli, 2018). The best nursing practices should be grounded in research-based theory, and nursing practices should inform the best approach. Nursing practices must be differentiated by good care supported by research theories that develop and spread the knowledge to different health care practitioners. Therefore, caregivers should be able to keep the relationship between theory, practice, and research. If there is any gap between the three, research will help close the gap and promote the theory.
