Disability can be managed using equipment for people with disabilities. These equipment include wheelchairs, walkers, and hearing aids. Also, through special education, the disabled can read and even write just like a normal person. Therefore, if I encounter disabled children in my classroom, I would feel the need to become friends with them. It is because they need a companion from the people around them to feel a sense of belonging. One of the pictures in the film shows a girl trying to read in braille (IRIS Center 1). It shows the effort that the teachers and parents have offered to make sure that the child is living a normal life. If the girl can read despite her disability, it means that she can communicate effectively with other people around her. However, from my perception, the girl is now in need of companionship. It is because she can communicate, and she needs someone to communicate with. I recommend that it is good to give disabled children everything they need to make them live like normal people. But I feel that without friendship, the education and equipment for disabled people are nothing because they need people around them to support them emotionally as they utilize the education equipment offered to them. Therefore, in case we encounter disabled children in our classrooms, we should start by making them our friends.
