Another right is freedom from arbitrary punishments and cruel punishments. According to the Eighth Amendment, every inmate has the right to be free from inhuman treatment that can be considered cruel punishment. However, the Eighth Amendment has not clearly indicated which actions are brutal, but the Supreme court states that such punishments include beheading, burning alive, and disemboweling, among others.
