Florida is amongst the states in America hardest hit by the COVID-19 Pandemic. As of March 25, 2021, the State has recorded at least 2,027,421 positive cases of the coronavirus, with the number of those losing their lives standing at 32,956[1]. Thousands more are hospitalized courtesy of this virus. On March 25 alone, state health officials reported one hundred and seven deaths and 5,773 new cases. The countdown that eventually led to these staggering numbers started officially on March 1, 2020, with the State confirming its first two positive cases. The first case was localized in Manatee, and the other one involved a woman who had just arrived in Hillsborough County from Italy.[2].

Despite this date being the first official confirmation of COVID-19 cases in the State of Florida, health experts within the State indicated that community spread of the virus began way earlier than this date. Some even intimated that this spread started as early as January, considering over a hundred and seventy-one people in the State had experienced symptoms akin to those currently being attributed to the virus.[3].
