Bloom’s taxonomy is a teaching framework applied in different educational settings, and it comprises six main facets: Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluation. However, its application in healthcare education has its pros and cons. The most apparent advantage is its role in facilitating the better organization of learning objectives, making it easier for teachers and other stakeholders to collaborate effectively (Mahajan & Singh, 2017). For example, it provides a pattern for allowing students to embrace complex concepts progressively, starting from theory and then moving into clinical practice under supervision. It equips learners with the capacity to break down different concepts for easier understanding (Zaidi et al., 2018). However, the main disadvantage lies in the assumption that knowledge is hierarchical. This supposition inclines teachers to presume that different forms of knowledge are independent yet information types in healthcare are interdependent (Paul, 1990). Therefore, stakeholders in health education must use Bloom’s taxonomy cautiously.
