The path-goal theory of leadership states that a leader’s behavior highly depends on the employee’s satisfaction, motivation, and performance. Based on the discussion above, Louis learned the importance of loop learning. When he was assigned the responsibility of sixty men on the USS Will Rodger, he had already adopted Palezs leadership traits. However, he chose to empower and motivate his subordinates so that they could make their own decisions. He became flexible and let them make their own decisions. However, things did not turn out as he expected because the subordinates were already used to getting orders from top management. On realizing that the subordinates were used to working under orders, he had to become flexible enough and give orders when needed but remain true to his commitment to transformational leadership.
