For the final project, I chose to write about stress and how to manage and cope with it. The reason I chose this topic is because I have been affected by stress many times and because of this class I found it an opportunity to learn more about it. I learned from the class more on ways to manage stress like yoga and other exercises.
Although we talked about how our minds perceive stress as stimuli during the second week of the class, I plan on presenting way to manage stress and cope with it. The option I am planning on taking will be a written paper and I hope I can deliver something good.

In my experience, the repetitive exposure to stress contributed by workplace pressure heightened my anxiety levels, and having poor coping mechanisms made me socially withdrawn. I found it challenging to talk about my challenges due to the fear that my friends would not understand my feelings. From what I have learned, people adopt different ways of coping with stress, which can be positive or harmful. In my case, choosing to stay away from my social circle was a negative coping mechanism with adverse health implications. In this sense, feelings of loneliness become a burden, contributing to poor behavioral practices like emotional eating, alcohol and drug abuse, or even suicide ideations (Schneiderman et al., 2008). Hence, other than yoga and physical activities, which are appropriate stress management techniques, I have realized the benefit of using music as a coping mechanism that cools down one’s stress levels.
