Performance of Marriot International on Diversity

Kalargyrou & Costen (2016) says that diversity is vital for hospitality because of their clients’ diversity. The Marriott is doing well with regards to diversity. The company has various programs that are geared towards the achievement of diversity in the organization. One program is the cultural engagement program geared towards ensuring that the employees’ welfare is protected. The company is also committed to attaining supplier diversity. According to DiversityInc (2020a), the company achieved gender supplier diversity when it surpassed its target of spending $500 million of women-owned businesses by $56 million more than the target in 2019. Presently, the company is targeting to spend more than $1 billion on diverse-owned companies. Cultural competence is another critical issue that the company has invested in to achieve its diversity goals.
