In 2018 President Trump announced that the US would increase its taxes on Chinese imports.  This has led to the US and China rivalry to intensify.  President Trump administration announced an increment of the import taxes from 10 to 25 percent on $200 billion of Chinese imports.  President Trump accused China of tracking on the commitment in the earlier negotiations, which attributed to the US increasing its import taxes on Chinese goods.  In reiteration, China announced that it would raise its import tariff on the $60 billion worth of American goods.  China announced that it would lift its import tariffs from a range of 5 and 10 to 25 percent, whereby most of the goods will be taxed on the upper limit.
