Ever since, immense progress has been made. In 2019 reauthorization of VAWA took place. They are strengthening existing laws as well as making improvements from the 2013 expansion. The 2019 authorization expanded grants to involve community resources in responding to violence in the community (Gover & Moore, 2020). They updated SMART prevention programs that involve boys and men in preventing violence. Another advancement made is an expansion of housing protection services for the survivors. In addition, Congress continues to advocate for appropriate funding for the Act grants after the authorization expired in 2020. the bill has made crucial investments towards prevention programs a priority for people working with the victims. They are providing resources for implementing evidence-based prevention programs, thus making the community safer for all women.
