Another barrier is the emergence of the Covid 19 pandemic. The Covid 19 pandemic negatively impacted the field of advanced practice nursing. It created more dangerous workplace conditions for nurses, and the majority felt exhausted and overworked. A survey conducted in 2021 showed that 46 percent of the nurses interviewed had their commitment to their practice waned. Due to the underlying consequences, including the risk of contracting the virus, working for long hours, and mental health deterioration, most nurses quit their professions (Butryn e2017).
