DBT incorporates five components, including capability enhancement, where the therapist helps the patient improve their emotion regulations, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. The second component is using various components to help the patient deal with different emotional situations (DeCou, Comtois, & Landes, 2019). The third one is motivation enhancement, where individualized behaviors treatment plan is used to help the individual improve their quality of life, such as addressing the most severe issues. The fourth component is enhancing motivation and capability, such as preventing vicarious traumatization as DBT is given to people with chronic, severe, and intense mental health issues. The last component of DBT is environmental structuring, where positive adaptive behaviors are reinforced in all environmental settings (DeCou, Comtois, & Landes, 2019). Yes, DBT is the most effective treatment method for BPD because it helps people cope with their emotions within themselves and around other people without being triggered by the environment.
