The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) weakens the immune system and is mainly spread through bodily fluids such as semen, breast milk, blood, and vaginal fluids. According to Randall (2019), a patient is diagnosed with the virus once the CD4 cell count drops below 200. This virus’s characteristic findings include Tuberculosis, Toxoplasmosis, Kaposi’s sarcoma, Cryptococcal meningitis, and Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP). The symptoms of HIV can be complicated due to contracted opportunistic infections. The symptomology includes rapid weight loss, depression, extreme fatigue, memory loss, and more than a week’s diarrhea. Other indications of the virus include the mouth, genitalia, or anus sores, reoccurring fevers, swollen lymph nodes around the groin, neck, armpits, and red skin blotches, purple, or brown color.
