Poverty is a situation where a person or group of people lack resources and other essentials that are critical for living a standard minimum of life.   It means that that a person has low income such that he or she cannot meet his or her basic needs.  In most cases, people living in poverty do not afford as three meals a day, proper housing, proper clothing, clean water, or access to medical services.  According to Kling, Kling, & Schulz (2009), poverty exists when a person is unable to satisfy his or her basic needs. Basically, poverty is associate with low education attainment, skills, and the unwillingness of a given group to work.  It is also associated with a high level or disorderly behavior. While these attributes are associated with poverty, their inclusion obscures the connection between them and the inability to meet basic needs.
