Developing an effective sales force requires a proper selection of personnel and providing them with adequate training. However, when a company has only one option, it would be a good idea to go for selection. That is because it brings out more positive outcomes than training, as sales and marketing is one of the jobs that require various personality types (Zoltners, Sinha, Sahay, Shastri, & Lorimer, 2021). Additionally, training takes a lot of time and finances for the company to shape the salespeople into people who can bring sales to the company. Therefore, selecting people with the right skills and capabilities is less expensive. The chosen people are more likely to adapt to the changing business environment.
