Despite the rampant reports about the decline of the US export competitiveness, the case brought to light that the bigger picture tells a different story. Reports show that the US has been left behind by China in terms of exportation, signifying that the US economy is weakening. There have been reports that China is becoming the superpower and taking the place of the US. This news has been related to the decline of the US export competitiveness, thus signifying a weak US economy. The news has failed to report that the US has bypassed Germany, which has held the number one position in exporting nations for some years (Peng, 2016). Furthermore, the news does not say that when export competitiveness is considered, the US is a close second to China.
