Cybercrime is often referred to as computer-oriented crime. It relates to any criminal undertaking by an individual or an organization that involves using a computer or a computer network (Gupta & Agarwal, 2017). With the advancement in technology in the new century, most institutions use computer networks for their transactions because of the convenience of modern technology. The increase in the use of computer networks in conducting trade has also led to a significant increase in cybercrime attacks. Those who initiate these attacks may intend to obtain private information about an institution, or they may want to steal from such organizations. The digital world has made a virtual identity and an essential element of the transaction. This virtual identity undergoes attack in instances of cybercrime (Gupta & Agarwal, 2017).
