In my analysis, the most crucial musical culture is Latino America because of various reasons, such as compelling traditional activities. The most engaging musical instruments are the violin and flute because they compose a large percentage of the cultural heritage songs. Therefore, they influence people to adopt specific behavior activities in society, which is psychologically healthy. The most entertaining activities include the mestizo culture, which conforms to a cultural rhythmic-metric organization with a combination of triple and duple rhythms (Turino, n.d). The flutists were extraordinary because they play in variations, simultaneously creating a shaking melody. Several different social identities in the Latino American musical culture have enhanced my understanding of musical activities and culture that generates them. Despite the challenge of understanding the diverse culture globally, it has enabled me to create a connection of cultural origins and transcendence through musical events. By following more about Latin America, specifically the mestizo culture, it is easier to ascertain musical culture.

I had an opportunity to chat with a real estate agent who walked me through tier open house guidelines and procedures. The highlights of the conversation showed how real estate agents prep the area, take photos of the premises, post invitations online, delegate cleaning of the house, inspect it beforehand and show the potential customers around while highlighting the unique features of the house. She noted that the level of engagement from the customer often informs her of their seriousness in purchasing the house. She also noted that understanding the customer, for example, their family size, jobs, and hobbies was crucial in identifying their needs even before clients verbalized them. This information is what she uses in her sales pitches. I would implement her business style because it shows value, respect, and interest in the wellbeing of the client and not just in closing the deal. I think such a strategy would have long-term

The songs also entailed rhythmic speech. In between the version and there was high usage of street vernacular. Kanye West has always worked extra hard to connect with his audience, inform, entertain, and relate to his audience and fans. In his song All of the Lights, he articulated speech. Kanye’s show extends beyond the stage and into his personal life, with every quirk of his outsized personality mirrored back to us via his performance in the song Runaways which is considered a tribute to Kim Kardashian Kanye West Archives and Media, 2021. Beyond pastiche, Kanye music performance throughout is a unique work with its sound and vibe. The song I wonder has a smiling feel due to the chord progression, connecting, and giving an emotional touch to the music. The song Runaway’s ominous and expansive synthetic bass is the ideal juxtaposition to the frigid, un-nuanced stabbing of the upper piano pitches.

Jazz Music is an original American art form that incorporates music from many different cultures. It has become an international music, which can be heard in most countries around the world, performed by musicians from those countries as well as American musicians. This assignment is a research and writing assignment that asks you to write about a contemporary International Jazz musician/group (a musician or group that comes from a country other than the USA) or an International jazz “scene” such as a famous International jazz festival like the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, or the jazz scene found in a specific country or an international metropolitan area such as Paris, London, Cape Town or Tokyo – writing about how Jazz has become part of the “scene” in those places – important venues: jazz clubs, concert houses, jazz societies, and important musicians from the “scene”. This paper is to be about the current Jazz scene or artist/group, you need to document Jazz music that is going on NOW, within the last 5 years. Your paper can discuss important background issues to support your ideas, but your subject is an International Jazz artist OR the jazz scene (festival, city or country) that is currently active.

There are many interesting topics that fall under this umbrella. Many international jazz musicians combine music from their own country or region with existing jazz musical ideas to create a new jazz sound. Other international jazz musicians are dedicated to playing very traditional styles of jazz. Many came to the US to study jazz music and apprentice with American jazz masters. If you choose to write about an artist/group, you will need to find artists/groups that are living and practicing the music in an International location. Some will still perform in the United States, (and around the world) while basing their careers outside the US, often in their home countries or regions.

It is important that the topic you choose has enough information about the international aspects of the musician/group or jazz scene to support a research paper. The assignment is about a “contemporary” artist or scene – meaning that the artists or scene is currently active, with the paper including recent activity – recordings, concerts, etc.. Historical background is important, but the focus of the paper is about an artist/jazz scene going on right now.

For instance, if you write about the jazz scene in Paris, you need to mention the history of Jazz in Paris (this is very important to this topic) and then write about the scene today: where the musicians are playing Jazz in Paris, who they are, and how Jazz is integrated into modern Parisian society.

Requirements:

  1. Write a 1000-1500 word paper (this is the body of the paper, not including the discography and references, etc..)

NOTE: word count is the least important part of the grading of this paper. Any paper that covers all of the requirements will be at least 1000 words, this is just a suggestion so that you don’t feel like you have to write a LONG paper. The content, quality of writing, inclusion of required information and following the writing style guidelines are the most important part of this paper. The paper should be well written, following general rules and formatting for a Research Paper in MLA or APA format.

  1. Research your topic well. It is important that you find lots of good information to base your paper on.
  2. Find and listen to musical examples of the artist(s)/group(s) you are writing about. If you are writing about a jazz “scene”, find and listen to some of the important artists from that scene. Find reviews of their music, and include your own description of what you hear in the music.
  3. If you are writing about an artist/group, Include a general description of the artist/group, what they are known for and other relevant projects/recordings they have produced. Include a selected discography as part of your reference citations.
  1. A discography is a list of important recordings by the artist or group. (You can find examples of discographies online.) You need to include the artist/group name, title of the recording, record label (company), year it was released, and important personnel on the recording.
  1. Include information about the recordings you write about:
    1. Date released
    2. Record label
    3. Musicians on the recording
    4. How readers can find this music (purchase, listen, etc)

You will be graded on:

  1. The inclusion of all of the issues listed above in your paper.
  2. Evidence of research into the artist/group or jazz scene and the music associated with your topic. References to your other research should be included.
  3. How well written and readable the paper is.
    1. This is an IMPORTANT part of the Draft-Final paper process, to create a Final Paper that is well written and interesting to the reader.

Basic format:

Opening Paragraph (Thesis)

– describes the content of the paper and the points to be made.

Inside Paragraphs

– discuss each topic presented in the Opening Paragraph (Thesis)

Conclusion

Research References

– citations need to be in MLA or APA format

Discography

– A discography is similar to a bibliography, the only difference being that it comprises a list of audio or sound recordings that you have cited in your paper. Sound recordings come in a variety of formats such as LP, cassette, CD, MP3, and even audio recordings streamed from the Web. If you refer to sound recordings in your paper, you will need to create a separate section on a new page entitled “Discography.” A “Selected Discography” includes important recordings by the artist or group you are writing about.

A Song or Album – Music can be cited multiple ways. Mainly, this depends on the container that you accessed the music from. Generally, citations begin with the artist name. They might also be listed by composers or performers. Otherwise, list composer and performer information after the album title. Put individual song titles in quotation marks. Album names are italicized. Provide the name of the recording manufacturer followed by the publication date.

If information such as record label or name of album is unavailable from your source, do not list that information.

Initially, the festival was conducted as entertainment of celebrating jazz culture and to create a platform for jazz artists to showcase their talents (Mair & Duffy, 2018). However, since the festival was a free event, massive crowds started crowding the city of Perugia in 1979, bringing about concerns on the issue of security and transport, which led to the cancellation of the event, hoping the crowd would reduce. However, that was not the case as the following year, many jazz revelers crowded the city, which made the organizers make it a free and paid event to control the crowd and curb the issue of security. That helped minimize the crowd that attended the jazz festival and reduced security and transport issues (Perry, Ager, & Sitas, 2020). From its beginning as an Italian event to a world-known festival, the Umbria jazz festival has progressively grown, creating a platform for the most world-renowned jazz maestros, which can be considered the journey of jazz music.

New York City became the home for Puerto Rican musicians and musical styles such as salsa and Latin jazz. A mix of diverse ethnic cultures highly characterized new York. It was favorable to Puerto Ricans since they fit in all spheres of New York music. They integrated the white and black jazz bands to create a unique smooth tune to the music. The city also commercialized the music through the American recording corporations. The massive migration of Puerto Rican musicians into the United States was also where most settled in New York City. New York also utilized the media, such as the New York Times to present awareness of the death of James Reese Europe. According to the magazine, his loss was incalculable, and his contribution to developing Puerto Rican music was the most significant (Luisillahermosa, 2011). Although he was an African American, he recruited musicians and artists directly from Puerto Rico due to their capability to absorb new musical forms. New York City created a favorable environment for this music genre because it was a blend of African American music identified with instinct.

Desert Island Rapper

We’ve all gotten a taste of isolation over the past year. Despite the wealth of media the internet provides us, the experience nonetheless drives home the idea of the “desert island album,” that old game in which you name a single album you would like to have if stranded on a desert island, and argue the reasons why.

For this essay I’d like you to choose your desert island rapper. If you could only listen to one rapper, who would it be, and why? They can be contemporary or old school. Make a case for them: why should we pay attention to this artist? Why should their work be included not only in places like rap-specific anthologies, but in places representative of all of English Literature? Show us why this rapper should be part of the canon of Great Works (the label this course falls under).

Your discussion may include a look at this artist’s use of poetic devices, a consideration of how their work holds up when compared to other works of literature (or, how well does their work explore the intricacies of human nature?), and how this work might be read in terms of the historical and cultural contexts out of which it was born. It can also include personal experience, anecdotes, opinion, etc. Make it lively.

Looking into KRS One bibliography, it is clear that his works extend beyond the Criminally minded album by BDP. Indeed, you can consider him the most significant member of the crew who would continually advance the music. Most people regard him as the son of hip hop bearing its principles, history, advocacy, and way of life in all his artistic works. There are 20 albums with his credits, and he has made numerous appearances with other artists. Beyond rap music hits KRS, one has contributed to English literature by publishing three groundbreaking books. This includes ”Science of Rap (1995), Ruminations (2003), and the Gospel of Hip Hop (2009) (AAE Speakers, 1). The most significant themes in his artistic works include race, power, social justice, class, and intellect/social justice. These issues are recognized as the hidden politics of rap music (Parma, 83). Despite the presence of contemporary influential media moguls such as Jay Z and 50 cents, the artist’s contribution to literature is significant.
