There are various challenges of Assimilation. First it makes people lose their family traditions. Even though most families do not part ways, their traditions might not be accepted when assimilated into new cultures, forcing them to adapt to new traditions. That reduces diversity, limiting different perspectives. Even though diverse teams always outperform non-diverse teams, they are always afraid to express their opinions because it is unknown (Hammar 10). Assimilation may create higher levels of crimes because it sometimes forces people into situations that must break the law. For instance, some legislatures, such as segregation and slavery, are unjust. However, that does not limit the majority government from enforcing the law, hence affecting how the minority groups behave.

Immune system’s role in maintaining homeostasis

The immune system is exceedingly complex in its constituent cells, molecules, and signaling pathways. Each major component of the immune system is critical for survival; immune activity protects against infections that would quickly be lethal without immune defenses and eliminates cells in the stages of cancerous transformation.

The most common and major immune system disorders are related to an immune activity that exceeds physiological needs. Hypersensitivity in the form of allergies occurs in 10% to 20% of the population. The prevalence of allergies increased in the developed world from the 1960s through the early 2000s, after which it began to plateau. Although less common than immune hyperactivity, disorders in which immune activity is below normal leave an individual susceptible to dangerous infections. In some individuals, immune activity is compromised to the extent that those affected are at risk for a major illness or even death.

1. What is the “big picture” of the immune system’s role in maintaining homeostasis?

2. What general principles are involved in the protection provided by the innate and adaptive immune systems?

Requirements: 400

Answer preview

Of significance is noting that general principles such as high blood flow protects the inner and adaptive immune systems. In this sense, the flow makes the infected site develop inflammation by turning red, developing swells, and becoming tender/warm (Nguyen, 2018). The immune cells discharge chemicals that expand blood vessels at the region, causing inflammation signs. Notably, the high blood flow means that the body returns to its normal state due to the quickened repair. The immune system also facilitates wound healing, enabling the affected organ to develop appropriate barriers. This enhances the reformation process of those organs, thus promoting homeostasis. Immune cells, known as macrophages, consume the impaired or dead cells and then discharge proteins that promote the regrowth of the muscle cells. Without the regrowth, the body has a higher chance of reinfection, preventing homeostasis from occurring.

Negative perceptions about women’s efficacy and performance in the organization may damage their career advancement aspirations. This is because they will always be afraid of not delivering leadership positions. The negative impact of gender stereotyping on women can highly be seen in many organizations where they hold leadership positions. However, all this stereotyping and discrimination are a result of socio-cultural factors. Societal structures of gender inequality need to change to reduce adherence to stereotyped modes of cognition. People worldwide have tried to fight for the rights of minority groups through movies and

Juvenile justice non-profit organization

You are working for a juvenile justice non-profit organization. You hear a news story about how the juveniles in your community are starting to cause problems. These problems are beginning to overload the juvenile court system. There are several theories that explain why juveniles become delinquent. Some of the sociological theories include:

Locate a sociological theory (it does not have to be one of the theories listed previously). Explain that theory with its relation to juvenile delinquency.

Please note that sociological theories relate to society and external influences over a juvenile, not psychological influences (which relate to internalization within a person) or biological influences (which concern physical problems).

Once you decide on a theory, write a 800-1000 word essay addressing the following:

  • Describe how it relates to juveniles by explaining what the theory believes causes the juvenile problems.
  • Think about what you could do working in a juvenile justice non-profit and explain what you could do in your position to aid in addressing the problem.

Your essay should follow APA format. The first part should define the sociological theory. The second part should provide details about addressing the problem. Be sure to reference all sources using APA style.

Requirements: 800 to 1000 words in depth

Non-profit organizations play a critical role in bringing a much-needed focus to pertinent issues in a given community. Working in such an organization, I would leverage the points that the social disorganization theory highlights to shape how society responds to delinquency at different levels. First, I would be keen to lobby the government and donors to focus delinquency prevention and rehabilitation initiatives on disadvantaged areas where children are at a higher risk of becoming delinquents. I would advocate for the empowerment of neighborhood and community organizations like the one I work with. I would use such resources to create positive activities such as games, communal activities, and counseling sessions to bring a sense of community and restore normal values (Ardi & Sisin, 2018). For minors who exhibit a stubborn tendency to relapse into delinquency, I will coordinate with their parents to facilitate a change of environment. This entails seeking donations and other assistance in sending them to a good boarding school where they can adopt better behaviors under close monitoring.

COVID-19 and health disparities

Number of Pages:

Question Description: First, explain three brands of theories in sociology (conflict, functionalist, and interactionalism). Second, write about relationship between COVID-19 and health disparity. Third, apply one of the theories to explain the relationship between COVID-19 and health disparities. 400-600 words

The conflict theory can effectively explain the health disparities witnessed in covid19. In theory, the lower class is constantly disadvantaged because the rich command the social order and limit the flow of resources to the poor. Similarly, during the pandemic, testing and treatment resources were scarce. Treatment was expensive and getting a testing kit was challenging. However, the rich who could afford to pay the high cost of treatment accessed the medical resources which prevented the severity of the infection and deterred death from covid19. The lower-income earners who mostly comprise people of color, could not pay the high medical cost of treatment leading to escalation of symptoms and a higher death rate than witnessed among the rich. The crowded living conditions unsuitable for the recommended isolation needed during covid19 to minimize its spread disfavored the people of color leading to higher infection rates.

Sense of gender equality

This week asks you to look at many different institutions in our society specifically as gendered institutions. Referring directly to the learning resources for this week, as a response to this post, take a moment to synthesize what you have learned:

  1. What are some of the major threads that connect these institutions in terms of gender, gender expectations, or effects on gender?
  2. Are there any common problems that need to be solved?
  3. Why is it important to consider intersectionality whenever we look at gender in institutions? Give at least two examples from the learning resources.
  4. Is the role of gender in politics connected to finding those solutions? If so, how?
  5. Finally, choose one or two of the gendered institutions we learn about this week (education, politics, criminal justice, military, healthcare, religion), and dive deeper into these questions:
    • How do expectations about gender affect that institution?
    • How does that institution affect gender?
    • What are the major hurdles to achieving gender equality in that institution?
    • What would gender equality look like in that institution?
    • And, what do you see as the major work that institution needs to do to achieve gender equality?

Requirements: 300 words or more

Answer preview

I chose politics as my preferred gender institution. Expectations about gender prevent women from joining the political scene. According to Palmer (2019), women from conservative backgrounds are discouraged from political leadership. Politics affects gender by passing laws and regulations requiring women’s participation in society. These laws are the basis for policies and regulations of other smaller bodies like state governments, organizations, companies, and businesses. The major hurdles to achieving gender equality in politics are the stereotypes that have discouraged women from participating and the lack of processes that encourage women’s participation. Gender equality looks like having women comprise half of the political leaders

Identification of Religious Organization

Assignment 1: Observation Proposal (450-word minimum, not including reference list)

Your Observation Proposal (Assignment 1) is the preparatory work for your Observation Report (Assignment 2). You can structure it in either essay form or list form. Either way, please use complete sentences.

Background: In this course, you will be conducting an Observation of a religious service(s) or other event sponsored by a religious/spiritual/atheist group of your choice. The purpose of the observation is to experience and analyze a religious event or service of a religion, congregation, or community that you have not experienced before.

Many religious groups are now livestreaming their services/events, and such services/events would be perfect to propose for your observation.

Most such programs are open to all, and thus you do not need to seek permission to observe. However, if you wish you attend an online meeting or program that involves or presumes individual participation (such as a religious chatroom, meet-up, or online interactive webinar), then you will need to have the organization’s permission to participate. If you aren’t sure whether you need permission, please email me, and I’ll be happy to help you.

In light of the on-going pandemic, I expect that most students will do an online Observation this term. Even if a religious group is meeting in person, it may be facing attendance limits due to state guidelines, and if that is the case, it may be disrespectful to go in person at this time (as you would be taking a spot away from a regular attendee). If you would prefer to do an in-person observation and you think it is feasible to do so, please contact me at the beginning of the course and we can discuss it.

Please include the following in your Proposal:

  1. Identify the specific religious (or atheist) organization you plan to study. You need to choose a religious (or atheist) group that has a substantial internet presence and is conducting live online programs. Alternatively, you can choose an organization that has provided substantial programs on YouTube.

Include: the name/location of the organization, the website of the organization, the names of the primary leaders of the organization and their roles.

  1. Provide 2-3 links to services/programs provided on video by the organization. (Total video time should be about 2 hours.) If you plan to watch Livestream programs, please provide links to the announcements/descriptions. Your total planned observation time should be about 2 hours.

Zarzour serves as the organization’s President and cofounder of its education forum (ISNA, n.d.). Magda Elkadi Saleh, is ISNA Vice President. She is tasked with overseeing strategic planning, marketing, and fundraising at the organization (ISNA, n.d.).

Like most religious organizations, ISNA has a wide internet presence. ISNA operates a website (https://isna.net/#). The organization uses the internet and other forms of digital technology to facilitate interactions and communication between Muslims themselves and between Muslims and members of other religions. In line with this, my observation will predominantly focus on identifying the leaders of this group, the values, beliefs, and practices held and promoted by the organization, and perceptions of what an ethical and religious life is. To do this, I will observe the various events, services, conferences, and programs operated by the organization and available on the internet.

Parenthetical (In-Text) Citations

A parenthetical (in-text) citation is when you place the source in parenthesis ( ) right after the sentence you cited instead of waiting until the end of the paper. It helps the reader to

know exactly what sentences and paragraphs are taken from particular sources.

Place the author’s name and the source’s date of publication in parentheses immediately after the end of the cited material. If it is a direct quote, include the page number as well.

For example:

  • “Psychology is defined as the science of behavior and mental processes” (Coon, 2012 p. 12).
  • If you have paraphrased the information then you do not need to include the page number. For example:
  • Psychology is a scientific field that specifically studies both mental processes and the associated behaviors (Coon, 2012).
Helpful Tips

  • Always use spell and grammar check
  • Make sure you indented the paragraphs (10 spaces or half an inch)
  • Balance. Each paragraph should be similar in length
  • Review the APA video and resource in Student Resources under Course Home.
  • You can send your paper to the Keiser OWL (Online Writing Lab) for review and to ask for help.

polygyny, with some preferring to embrace sororal polygyny. This is a form of marriage where one man marries several sisters. Thobejane and Flora (2014) define polyandry as a marriage involving one wife and multiple husbands. Just as it happens with polygyny, there are different cultural variations of polyandry, with the common one being the fraternal one. It is a form of marriage where one woman gets married to a group of brothers (Thobejane & Flora, 2014). Even though my parents were in a monogamous union, they often shared stories of growing up in a polygamous family. Specifically, their parents (my grandfathers) had multiple wives who lived in proximity, but each wife had a separate house. The co-wives co-existed and shared numerous duties, such as caring for their children.
