Health & Medical Question

Choose one work that particularly engages you. Take time to look at the work in detail; include a picture of the work. Ask yourself: “How does the piece ‘work’? What is the artist doing? Why do I have a particular response (such as joy, fear, curiosity)?” Your response is, to a great extent, the result of the choices the artist has made in the process of creation. You will find useful ideas for thinking and writing about works of art in the text which was required for this course in chapter 1. The following is a specific outline for this paper. Part of your grade will be determined by how well you follow this outline. Other important aspects are thoroughness, clarity, and a demonstrated sensitivity to the work of art as shown in the rubric at the end. Parts 3 and 6 are 80% of the grade for this paper.

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THIS ON THE FOLLOWING WORKS OF ART – THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

MONA LISA BY DA VINCI LAST SUPPER BY DA VINCI

ANYTHING IN THE SISTINE CHAPEL (INCLUDING THE CREATION OF ADAM) BY MICHELANGELO

THE SCREAM BY EDVARD MUNCH STARRY NIGHT BY VAN GOGH STATUE OF LIBERTY

EIFFEL TOWER

THE SCREAM – MUNCH DAVID BY MICHELANGELO

PIETA – MICHELANGELO

LAD MENINAS – DIEGO VELAZQUEZ

THE KISS – GUSTAVE KLIMT

Write the paper numerically (#1,2,3,4,6,7)

1. State the title, artist, date, dimensions, and medium (what it is made of) of the work.

2. State the name of the exhibition in which the work was displayed.

3. Introduce the reader to the work of art by writing a brief, overall description of it. (Simple

not detailed)

4. Discuss the Elements of Art and Principles of Design that you think are important in understanding and analyzing this work.

5. Always refer to the artist by her or his last name, not the first name.

6. Explain your personal response to the work based on its form as you analyzed it in the previous sections. (Why did you like/dislike it?)

7. Include a photograph/picture of the artwork (Google images or similar)

The following list of the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design will help you to focus on the most important aspects of the work you are analyzing. Discuss the element or principles that seem to create the meaning of the work or contribute to its aesthetic quality.

1. Elements of Art

o line – shape and mass – light, value, color – texture – space – time and motion

1

2. Principles of Design

o unity and variety – balance – emphasis – focal point – proportion and scale – rhythm

Although different texts may sometimes use different terms, the basic concepts are the same. The textbook reviews some fundamental terms in the “Introduction” to your textbook for this course. If you should want an additional review of these elements and principles, consult any textbook for a college level Art Appreciation or Art History course.

Keep in mind:

1. Writing a formal analysis does involve your interpretation of and personal response to the work, but your reactions must be supported by referring to specific elements and qualities which you see in the work.

2. Accept the work as it is. Do not “second guess” the artist and make such statements as, “I think the painting would have been better if the artist had . . .”

3. Titles of exhibitions are in quotation marks; titles of works of art are underlined or are in italics.

Common mistakes you will want to avoid:

1. Failure to proofread your paper to check for spelling, punctuation, subject/verb agreement, incomplete sentences, run-on sentences, etc. Don’t rely on your computer’s spellchecker; the computer may not know if you mean “there” or “their.”

2. Confusing “it’s” and “its.”

3. Referring to the artist by her/his first name. Would you write English literature paper on Romeo

and Juliette and refer to the author as “William”?

4. Handing in your paper and asking me if I have a stapler.

  1. . The linen of the headgear does not seem exquisite, and it looks like a material that was designed to identify someone by their profession. Part of the headgear material also marches that of her coat, which gives more weight to the assumption that she was wearing a uniform. I also believe that the background of the painting indicates that the lady did not have a superior position in society. The background is dark, suggesting that it might not have been taken in an exclusive setting as most people in power or money did in the past.
  2. However, what is confusing, in this case, is the earring that the lady wore. In the painting, the earing appears like it is made out of silver, which was a preserve of the rich and the ruling class in the old society. However, there is also a possibility that the earring she had on might not be original. I also think that given the pleasant nature that the artist captures, the lady might have had a good relationship with the artist, and this being the case, the artist might have given her the earring. What interests me the most in this painting is the way the lady stares at the painter. It indicates as if she had a strong bond with him, which would be strange because she was just a house help.

Nursing Case Study

Scenario: Hello, I am Isabella. I am 72 years old and a recent widow after the death of my husband Ben, 6 months ago. I have to tell you, things have not been easy for me in this life. But I have always believed you have to take care of yourself. Even when times get rough, I do as much as I can. I might be a little unorganized sometimes so don’t ask me what day it is!

Back when Ben got really sick, we decided it was best for me to stop working so I could take care of him. I loved my job at Sears. I had worked there more than 20 years, ever since Sandra my daughter was in high school. I loved being with people and helping them find just exactly what they were looking for.

At first, Ben could still do things for himself. He had his little daily routine of things to do. He would get up and read the paper, walk down to the little breakfast diner to have some coffee and talk to all his friends there. In the afternoon we would go to doctor’s appointments and do the shopping and other errands. He was still real handy around the house. As time went on, Ben got a little sicker everyday, to the point where in the last year I was doing everything for him. I have to tell you, I was getting so tired and run down, never being able to sleep the night through or have a restful meal.

Our daughter Sandra, as busy as she was with her own life—it being a mess and all—would still try to help out as much as she could. Usually, she would come over with a meal once a week, and stay with her Daddy while I went to mass or had a cup of tea with a friend. Her daughters would come and read stories to their “pa-pop” and sit near him. The smile on his face during those visits made the whole day better.

Ben’s medications and equipment were really, really expensive. Now, since he worked for the Railroad he had a pretty good pension and health benefits in retirement, but they would not cover the cost of everything, even after he got Medicare when he retired. Pretty soon we were nearly completely out of money. Outside of the house, we owned an old car.

One day, one of the neighbors told me about a program which was helping one of her sisters in another state, PACE. She said they did wonderful things for both the patient and wife. Well, I asked Sandra about it, and she looked on the computer at the library and found out that PACE had a program here, Total Longterm Care. Well, Ben called TLC and someone came out to the house to talk with us about it. We filled out the form to see if we were eligible, and we were! Everyone there was so helpful!

They told us that TLC would take care of Ben’s medication and equipment, his doctors would even give him a place to go visit and spend a few hours when he wanted. To top it off, they would come pick him up for visits or doctor’s appointments and bring him home. The social worker, Cindy, also told me that they would send someone to help clean up the house a little and take care of some of his needs on days he was at home. They helped out so much let me tell you!

But now I’m back to watching every penny since Ben’s death. Just my arthritis medication is over a hundred dollars a month. I try to stay with the pills. But if I bought them all like the doctor says, I’d be broke. So I break them in half or skip a day here and there to help stretch them out. Sandra has told me I should get Part D insurance for my medications, but it is just too confusing and overwhelming to me.

See, since my Ben died, Sandra has been helping me. I never even wrote a check before because Ben always did that. But now that he is gone, there just isn’t enough money for food and medicine and taxes and everything. I think Sandra is stealing from me though because I think I should have enough money. But since I don’t know much about the bank account, I can’t argue much and have to do what she says.

Sandra and the girls moved in just last week. But now I think Sandra is stealing from me. She came home from shopping or work or something, I don’t remember for sure right now. Well it must have been shopping because she was going to get her shopping bags out of the trunk. I came to the door to see what she was doing. I noticed the mail was in the box by the front door. I opened one bill and it said over $100 was due! How could it be $100? She must not be paying the bills. So when she was buying more stuff but not paying my bills, I just had to tell her off.

See, she keeps telling me lies. I just can’t take it anymore. She is just getting too big for her britches I tell you because she told me if I didn’t like it I could leave. Right then and there I told her she needed a good spanking. Oh the neighbors heard it alright. And they called the police for me too. They know. I bet one of their children is stealing from them too. But Sandra got to talk to the police first. And get this, they arrested me! How humiliating!

I spent the night in jail. I was so mad and scared. My sister, Rosella, came and got me from jail —which was Sandra’s fault in the first place—and then Sandra made it so I couldn’t go into my own house! That was the last straw. I fainted and was taken to the emergency room. They said I had a panic attack this morning. Somebody from social services came while I was at the jail, but I said I’d rather live with my sister than to go with them. Now my sister’s husband won’t let me stay there. The only thing I could think to do was call Cindy, the woman at TLC who was so helpful with Ben. She is going to meet with me and Sandra at the house this afternoon.

Instructions:

  1. Read the scenario above, and then answer the following questions:
    1. What problems are specifically Sandra as far as her caregiving role?
    2. What describes the health prevention/promotion interventions that Sandra needs to consider for her mother?
    3. What specific assessments should Sandra consider that she can find on Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing (name and describe at least six)
    4. Should Sandra try to make any adjustments to repair her relationship with her mother? How will this help to fulfill her role as a caretaker for her mother?
  2. Your paper should be:
    • One (1) page or more.
    • Use factual information from the textbook and/or appropriate articles and websites.
    • Cite your sources – type references according to the APA Style Guide

Requirements: 1 page

Answer preview

Some useful prevention/promotion interventions that Sandra can use include an emphasis on physical activity, eating balanced diets, and sourcing for help in her caregiver role. Patients who have arthritis need moderate regular physical activity and a regular intake of prescribed medication (Burmester & Pope, 2017). In addition, Sandra should prioritize meeting the physical needs of her mother to prevent stress-related ailments. Whenever she feels overwhelmed, she ought to source help to deter burnout and stress for both her and her mother.

Sandra can benefit from different assessments from the Hartford Institute of Geriatric Nursing website. The elderly mistreatment assessment helps clinicians detect any form of abuse or abandonment (HIGN, n.d). The orthostatic hypertension assessment will measure the blood pressure, which is useful to her mother, who is currently facing high stress levels. The 4M’s assessment will assess the matters, mobility, medication, and mentation (HIGN, n.d). Isabella can also benefit from the nociceptive versus neuropathic pain assessment to better understand the ongoing pain she experiences. The FICA spiritual history tool will give Isabella a perspective on her spiritual life.

Screening prevention recommendations

A valuable website to review the screening prevention recommendations based on the latest evidence based practice :

https://www.uspreventiveservicestaskforce.org/Page/Name/home

On your discussion this week answer the following questions:

1.) What is the U.S. Preventive Task Force (USPTF)?

2. ) Select a disease for example colon cancer and discuss the screening age recommendations and the screening tools recommended for early prevention?

—–> one (1) APA format page with 2 scholarly references. Thank you.

Requirements: 1 page

Answer preview

Because timely detection is critical to avoiding colon cancer, it is vital to have testing started as soon as possible, commencing at 45 years of age (Maida, Macaluso, Ianiro, Mangiola, Sinagra, Hold & Scarpulla, 2017). The USPSTF advises screening people aged from 45 years to about 75 years for colon cancer using an exterior indicator. Individuals aged between 76 years and 85 years must consult a physician and inquire whether they should undergo such screening (Maida et al., 2017). The commission recommended numerous screening procedures for colon cancer, notably colonoscopy, colonography, and stool testing. Most individuals must start testing for colon cancer just after the age of 45 years, and therefore should maintain doing the same regularly (Maida et al., 2017). In this case, it may be advisable to get checked at a younger age, frequently, if someone in the family has had colon cancer. They might have Crohn’s, an autoimmune thyroid condition. People who have a genetic disorder may have health problems

The first benchmark for comparing the hospitals is the patient survey rating which addresses different facets of customer experience in the broader conversation appertaining to quality (Hospital Compare, n.d.). Practitioners’ tendency to engage in good communication practices was the first concern that had to be addressed. Patients provided their views on whether the professionals who served them tended to communicate well. At Kendall Regional Medical Center, 73% of patients said that nurses had good communication skills, and 77% said the same of doctors. At Westchester general Hospital, only a meager 66% thought nurses were good communicators, while 70% thought doctors communicated well. Baptist Hospital of Miami

Responsiveness is the second facet of comparison as practitioners must assist patients as soon as they request such help (Kashkoli, Zarei, Daneshkohan, & Khodakarim, 2017). This facet is best summarized as the provision of timely and effective care. It was equally significant to compare the prevalence of complications and deaths arising during or after treatment interventions (Hospital Compare, n.d.).

Managing a Compliant and Diverse Workplace

Recall from the Management Team Briefing on Employment Laws Assignment that the company in the assignment was the defendant in some HR-related lawsuits; claims of harassment, failure to reasonably accommodate disabilities, and work-life balance issues were made by employees, forcing the company to answer to the claims in its own defense. As the new CHRO, you want to enact stronger policies and guidelines to avoid such situations in the future.

Write a 5–6 page paper in which you:

  1. Briefly note how workplace harassment affects equal employment opportunity and describe at least four elements a plaintiff must show to pursue a harassment claim. How might an organization prevent the risk of being the subject of such claims? Hint: Read 6 Tips to Avoid Harassment and Discrimination Claims.
  2. Explain your overall understanding on reasonable accommodation of disability (consider reviewing ADA rules). Then, discuss a minimum of three things a plaintiff filing a failure to accommodate claim must show to prove they are qualified for the job in question.
  3. Make a connection between religious advocacy or harassment and bona fide occupational qualification. Can churches promoting a certain religion refuse to hire people of other faiths? Why or why not?
  4. Discuss your overall understanding of FMLA and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act as they relate to organizations granting leave for each. Then, identify two or three common FMLA mistakes managers make and what you would do to avoid the mistakes. Hint: Read The Top Five FMLA Compliance Mistakes That Could Land You in Court.
  5. Go to Basic Search: Strayer University Online Library to locate at least three quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other websites do not qualify as academic resources.

As a company leader, you must show commitment to the discrimination laws and commit to creating a contusive environment for working. Thus an employee will not be able to engage in such misconducts as they know; they might be liable for the claims. The manager should establish solid policies and procedures against harassment and live by example.  The organization should also create a transparent reporting process. If an employee feels like they are being harassed or discriminated against and are afraid to speak out, there is always that close person to the employee that they can vent to (Arnedt, 2019). A transparent investigation process should be put in place. The employee is acted upon his/her rights, and the employer does not suffer false liabilities concurrently protecting their privacy. However, the best thing to avoid all this is by giving employees training about what’s expected by the organization.

The key program outcome under this was the development of an ability to not only identify but also apply the processes and theories used to assess student learning within post-secondary educational settings to determine the effectiveness of academic programs. From my artifacts, it is clear that my mastery of this program outcome meets the expected standard. This is because I was able to conduct an outcomes-based evaluation of my selected adult education program, conduct a performance analysis, and the other stipulated assignments (Reed, 2015). My competency in this program is also quite good, considering I was able to integrate the theoretical knowledge gathered from class and apply it to guide my research when doing my assignments. In addition, my artifacts reflect mastery of key program concepts and theories. Concerning this program, I currently cannot pinpoint any competency gaps.

Physical and Mental Health

  1. Health is important to all of us. It’s a concern for everyone around the world. This includes our mental health as well as physical health. It may surprise some, but culture contributes to the maintenance of our health and the causes and treatment of disease. Health and disease are not defined the same in all cultures and what leads to good health also varies depending on the culture. Levels of access and care vary as well. In a multicultural society like the United States, it is important to understand this. From a psychology perspective, there are psychosocial and sociocultural factors that influence health, but these too vary depending on one’s culture. To meet the needs of a culturally diverse society, it’s crucial to realize that the influence of culture on health is real and understanding its influence will help you meet people’s needs. Write a 700- to 1,050-word response to the following questions from Culture and Psychology.
Three indicators of health have been studied worldwide—infant mortality, life expectancy, and subjective well-being.

    • What other indicators do you think are important for assessing a country’s health and well-being? How would you measure it?
    • Choose a health outcome (such as obesity or a disease). Identify and describe biological, psychological, and social factors that may contribute to the development of the health outcome.
    • Can you think of any psychological disorders that only appear in your culture? How would you study whether a disorder is specific to your culture?

There are several barriers to seeking mental health services that may explain racial or ethnic disparities. Think about the category of gender.

    • Do you think there would also be gender disparities in seeking out and using mental health services? If so, explain what specific barriers may account for these disparities.

Cite a minimum of three sources.
Format your assignment according to APA guidelines.
    Submit your assignment.

The social factors include income, which contributes much to the type of food we consume. Lack of enough money leads to an inability to consume healthy foods, live in contusive environments, and not access health care facilities. Lack of education makes people eat all types of foods and consume drugs without knowledge of their effects (Bell, Audrey, Gunnell, Cooper, & Campbell, 2019). Lack of physical activities sometimes is contributed by lack of knowledge. Lack of enough sleep due to long hours of working or drugs, stress management problems, or depression are some of the psychological factors that cause diabetes.

The number of Blacks/African Americans who made the new HIV diagnosis in 2019 comprised 13% of the U.S. population, which constituted 44% of a new diagnosis of HIV. In 2019, 18% of the U.S. inhabitants were Hispanics/Latinx, but 30% comprised new diagnoses of HIV. The numbers of Black/African American, Whites, Asians and multi-race people who had HIV diagnoses have declined during 2015–2019. Among American Indians/Alaska natives, HIV diagnoses grew and stayed steady with Hispanic/Latinos among Americans/other Pacific Islanders (Milbar & James, 2021). An estimated 1,2 million U.S. citizens 13 years and older had HIV by the end of 2019. Roughly 13% of individuals in the United States do not know this; thus, testing is necessary. Early diagnosis of HIV is essential. For all aged 13-64 years, there was a need to be tested at least once (Milbar & James, 2021).

The traditional education model is generally referred to as a “teacher-centered” approach, where teachers serve as reservoirs of knowledge that they transfer to their learners. The role of the student is to be available for classes and follow the teacher’s examples and explanations to gain knowledge. This is in stark contrast to the modern approach, which is more “student-centered.” Here, the role of the teacher is to enable learning by encouraging active student participation in the process and allowing the learners to move at their individual pace. The traditional model also places a focus on age rather than competencies Gawrisch, Richards, & Killian, (2020) posit that grouping learners based on age is an arbitrary criterion that is a rather recent reaction to social trends precipitated by the realization that children develop through stages and the inclination to efficiency that accompanied the industrial revolution and mass production. They suggest that throughout much of history, learners were rarely grouped according to age. Moreover, with the improvement in technology such as information systems, educators can carry out multiage schooling based on each student’s abilities efficiently and effectively.

These are employment qualifications that employers consider when making decisions about hiring and retaining employees. This rule only permits hiring persons based on race, national origin, and age only if the characteristics are considered bona fide occupational qualifications (EEOC, 2018). This is a defense of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

  • Access Discrimination vs. Treatment Discrimination

Access discrimination takes place where occupational opportunities are withheld from individuals when and access to jobs denied. In contrast, treatment discrimination occurs where individuals are employed. Still, they are treated differently once they begin work, for example, receiving fewer resources than they should be based on their job criteria (EEOC, 2018). Both access and treatment discrimination are forms of employment discrimination.
